Am I expensive?

Foster mom got back from Costco this morning and carried 5 lbs of bacon inside. None of us even woke up. We are officially winter hibernating.

The first thing future mommy's and daddy's think about when they hear about a special needs pup, is the COST! Foster mom helped me add up all my costs for each month.

Insulin is only $24.88 for a single bottle at Walmart. Right now I am getting 13 units twice a day, so a bottle will last me 41 days. Thirty days days would be about $18.20 for all you math nerds.

100 Box of syringes is $12.58 at Walmart, I only use 60 syringes every 30 days. So that's only $7.55 a month.

Each meal I am eating 1/2 a can of Purina Beyond Chicken, Carrot, & Pea each meal. Along with 1.5 cups of Purina Beyond Chicken & Egg kibble. Yum yum!

Foster mom has found my canned food the cheapest at Amazon with the subscribe and save at $16.40 for a case, which is 12 cans. So that's $1.37 per can! $41.10 a month there. This stuff is so delicious that it's totally worth it!

Purina Beyond White Meat Chicken & Egg Recipe Grain-Free Dry Dog Food, is my delicious kibble is a 23lb bag for $35.99 at Chewy.com. Asking how many cups are in this bag is like asking how many licks are in a tootsie pop. It's a gamble and no one every really knows this answer! Embrace life's little mysteries. **Edited to add, a bag of kibble will last 31 days at my current portions**

I'm also on thyroid meds, those just get tossed into my food bowl and I eat them easy peasy. Those are cheapest at Costco. Do not try to get these at Walmart. You will leave angry and may yell at stupid people. Learn from Foster mom's mistakes! A 90 day supply only costs $17.24. So that's $5.74 a month.

Monthly costs
Insulin - $18.20
Canned food - $41.10
Kibble $35.99 (31 days)
Thyroid meds - $5.74

So my approx monthly total of ongoing food & meds is only $101.03. For an old lady I'm pretty darn affordable! Some people pay that much more just for kibbles.
